Let the light shine through your skin!

Inspired by the aqueduct in a small town of Central Anatolia, Tyana, G-I is indeed our first design. It's simple and subtle, yet robust and edgy. It may bring you a splash of freshness from a canal or from a port making you feel the sea and the sky, together.

All of our jewellery is 950 Silver which means what you are holding in your hand is 95% pure silver and 5% pure copper, nothing else, not other metal alloys. And this also means, your jewellery will be nickel-free since pure silver and pure copper do not contain nickel, thus hypoallergenic. The reason we use 950 Silver instead of sterling silver (925) or pure silver (999) lies in the fact that we don't do any plating, meaning not involving any further cyanide and the likes. We could have used pure silver 999 but alas, pure silver is so soft and when wearing frequently, it could be scratched a lot. Hard to bending though, since our jewellery is quite substantial and won’t easily bend.

As Matariki Atelier, honesty is what matters the most to us. We are aware of the gravity of our actions. Therefore, we question every step we make and encourage you to question us. We feel obliged to take part in the responsible production of jewellery. In order to minimize the effect we create by producing adornments, we prefer to use silver not gold (since gold is always the ultimate goal and silver is mined mostly as a by-product) and we don’t do any plating and certainly not involving cyanide cleaning processes, afterwards. For now, we offer a range of beautifully made silver jewellery with ethical gemstones and lead-free enamel. And in the future, as silver is our always love at first sight, we hope to use fair mined ecological gold, as well.

  • Try to take extra care with your jewellery since there is only air between the two of you. Only 950 Silver and your skin. Hence the tarnish. It's one of the laws of the mother Nature. When copper meets oxygen in the air becomes blackish. This may not happen with rings when wear frequently and it also depends on your skin's acidity level, as well. We should try to not to soak our jewellery in soap, alcohol and certainly not leave them wet. When not in use, you can put it in an airtight zipper bag.
